We left on the morning of Saturday, the 19th, after a failed modeling casting call for Dresden. He was called by the agency that was part of that North Texas Child cover model shoot, and he was just NOT himself that morning. He was clingy, didn't want to pose for his picture to be taken, was whiny and just all-around in a horrible disposition. I honestly wondered where my child had gone. But no matter, if modeling is not his calling, then it's just not. End of story. So after that, we set out on our Great Thanksgiving Road Trip of 2011. Dresden has now logged entirely too many hours watching movies on an iPod touch for any 2 and a half year old, and I feel some guilt about that, but what can you really do with a kid in a car for 8-10 hours a day. He was actually an amazing trooper, and only broke down toward the ends of the day while we were on the road.
We drove until we could drive no more, and stayed in Springfield, MO. The next morning we got up and made our way to the great city of St. Louis. St. Louis will forever be a special place in my heart now, just being there with Alex and Dresden as a family, we made some great little memories. Seeing the arch was truly an awesome experience, the Gateway to the rest of our journey, and a remarkable piece of sculptural wonder, to boot. It was FREEZING, and poor Dresden bore the brunt of that, but he was patient with us taking pictures.

I loved how everywhere we were in the city, the arch was pretty much always in view. And coming into town and seeing the riverfront and the arch behind it was a sight to behold.

After a warm lunch to restore us, we headed toward the Windy City and arrived late that night at Alex's family's house - exhausted.
