Lost in Spice

Most toddlers get fixated on certain objects and toys; this is a pretty well-known fact. For Dresden, some of his favorite "toys" are our car keys, any remote control he can find, cell phones, iPods and computer mouses. He's apparently just that into technology. And then it gets even simpler than that. If it's on his level and not nailed down, it's going to be claimed as his. There is one thing in this house where that rule applies more than in any other case. And that's where it gets a bit odd. Because, well, have you ever seen a kid obsessed with spices and a spice rack?

This is Dresden's laundry tub that he pushes over from the laundry room to the tiny island that has a built in spice cabinet one one side. Inside is his loot for today.

The title "Lost in Spice" is in reference to one of our favorite books, "Skippyjon Jones, Lost in Spice" where the little guy travels to Mars using his mama's Chili Powder to imagine the dust of the red planet. Our little Skippyjon himself:

And the glass door offers a whole different world of possibilities!

He's a mess; he makes us laugh so hard! His only rule in the spice rack is he is not allowed to play with the glass spice containers. We ALWAYS take those away from him immediately...(Immediately after we hear them clang on the tile and realize he has a hold of one, that is. Haha!)

We hope y'all had a great weekend!

Love,

Cassie, Alex and Dresden
